First up, in case you don’t know Jesu is Justin Broadrick (Napalm Death, Godflesh, Head Of David) and Ted Parsons (Swans, Prong) and you could describe it as if the Swans and My Bloody Valentine were caught in the middle of a shooting and they both got killed at the same time, with each other’s corpses lying one on top of the others, bleeding over themselves, while they behold heaven in front of their eyes; you think I’m exaggerating? Listen to the album, it’s a total mindfuck.

OOOO

Suena chingon? Asi es como es este EP.

This EP has only 2 songs, but it clocks at little over 30 minutes, so it’s worth the price; the first song’s first 10 minutes of the track are variations of slow, heavy riffs, the following ten minutes are more delicate and calmer. The second song is “Angel Tears”, originally from their last album Australasia, remixed by Justin Broadrick (of Jesu and formerly of Napalm Death and Godflesh) and it sounds a little Jesu-esque, doom-filled but with twinkly sparks igniting all around. Sounds dope? That’s the way this EP is.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What the hell happened?!! It’s like Emerson, Lake and Palmer wanted to cover their album Madonna, very bombastic and pretentious but long, repetitive and faceless. I recommend you download the single “And The Rest Will Follow” because that’s probably the best song on the whole album…hell, it’s the only memorable song in the record; really, I don’t remember anything about the other songs.

Ok, tomando a Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, Texas Is The Reason e inclusive Hoover, Still Life, Moss Icon y parecidos) a nuevos territorios.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is like if Morrisey woke up really bitter, angry and raw-throated and forgot where The Smiths rehearsed, ending up at some avant-garde audio shop. Taking “emo” (don’t like the word? Ok taking Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, Texas Is The Reason and even Hoover, Still Life, Moss Icon and the like) to new territories.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stoner thrash metal...who knew it was possible? Less thick on the crust , gardened to eliminate some weed and spit-n’-shine polished; not bad, pretty rocking, in fact; yet some smog and mud could be appreciated

OOOOo

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Polland is a weird place, the only things to do there is try to be the Pope or start death metal bands; Behemoth fall on the later category and boy did they take their gore lessons seriously. Demigod is a crash course in mashing the influence of Morbid Angel, Suffocation and Deicide, sprinkled with some black metal brutality and voila! You get this fucking epic journey into something dead and rotten, but this is lovely dead and rotten stuff.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another kick ass mini-LP from these offensive New Yorkers, except this time this is their most straight-forward, rock-oriented and, eewww, accesible thing they have released so far. Yeah, tons of 80’s musical references, less rapping, song titles like “Straight To Video” and “Two Hookers and An Eightball” and one of the best covers i have ever heard (Rush’s “Tom Sawyer”) make this an amazing, ADD-approved album.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This sweet, beautiful and dissonant collection of sounds from this veteran indie rock trio (excellent indie rock, i might add) is proof that “outtakes” and “rarities” doesn’t equal “throwaways”. In fact, this disc, with the notorious handicap of these being recordings spanning almost three decades, feels like a great lost YLT album.

Isis MP3 download

.
Being broke sucks, there's so much stuff to buy...for example, i want the Isis remix comp (of course, some of you already have the original series on vinyl...should i keep on talking about this sucking?) but you know i don't have the money, in fact i doubt they're bringing it to stores here, which means triple the cost by ordering...enough of my bitching, in case you're in the same position as i am, click here to download The Beginning And The End (Venetian Snares remix).

The Beginning And The End (Venetian Snares remix).

Music News and Rants

Depeche Mode are recording their next album in Santa Barbara, California right now. The thing will be out by fall; i can't wait!!

Glastonbury is gonna suck more than usual this year, click here for the full line-up. The festival will be held June 24, 25 and 26.

I was not gonna say anything about but this is too good to pass off: you all know Limp Dickshit is doing a new album and that it's produced by Ross Robinson and has Wes Borland playing again, well that's nothing compared to the genius of the track listing, check it out:

Track List for "The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1):
"The Propaganda"
"The Truth"
"The Priest"
"The Key"
"The Channel"
"The Story"
"The Surrender""

Spain is getting great line-ups on it's festivals lately, check out the one for the Benicassim International Festival here

A demo tape recorded in 1994 by the studio-project band Terror (no, not Trustkill Records neo-hardcore Terror) which featured Adrian Erlandsson (ex-At The Gates, ex-The Haunted, now in Crayola Of Shit, i mean, Cradle Of Filth), Anders Björler (ex-At The Gates, now in The Haunted), Jonas Björler (same as Anders) and Jon Nödtveit (of Dissection) has surfaced; download it and bang your head here

Astralwerks is reissuing the only album recorded by The 101ers, Joe Strummer's band before The Clash, the set will consist of the album plus some live versions and previously unheard studio tracks.

The White Stripes think they're very funny, their new album is gonna be called Satan or something. Hey, how about changing the name to We're Only Two Retards And We're Overrated?

If you're into Krautrock, you should definitely check out Impressions, Faust's new DVD, it's a visual mindfuck, in case you didn't suspect it.

The new Chemical Brothers video is my favorite video of the moment, yeah, i'm talking about the one where some guy thinks those big ass assembly robots are chasing him all over town; the song is very pedestrian so-so, but the video is rad as fuck!

And speaking of DVDs, Low has a documentary coming out on June 28, Low In Europe chronicles their Trust 2002 tour and features, well, the band touring Europe plus live performances, sounds sweet. Watch the trailer

Pelican are releasing a sneak peek from their upcoming album which is an EP (with a new song from the afore-mentioned album plus a remix by Justin Broadrick), it sounds boss!!!. The band is not only releasing a new full length later on, but they're also releasing a split with Mono; dude, you know I'm saving for that shit!!!

Movies and Trailers

2005 looks like a crappy year for movies, yeah, no movie so far has made me want to go to a theater...until now. Have you seen Sin City? Holy fuck!! it looks fucking awesome, word on the street is that it's one of the most violent movies ever, most violent comic book movie, for sure, i'm guessing; and the casting is fucking A too: Bruce Willis (yeah, movies with this dude are always a gamble), Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Nick Stalh, Elijah Wood, Benicio Del Toro, Britanny Murphy, Marley Shelton, Michael Madsen, Josh Harnett and Alexis "Rory Gilmore" Bledel; it looks like the best movie Robert Rodriguez has done. It's already in theaters in the States, but there's no signs of Mexican release date (fucking bastards!!). so for now here's the trailer. Now click here to see the comic to film comparisons, it's fun and impressive

Speaking of Rory Gilmore, Alexis Bledel has another movie coming out soon called The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants based on some book, it looks like a total girl power thing, watch the trailer at the movie's site. Oh and it looks like Alexis doesn't like to be known as Rory, or so it says in Alternative Press.

More movies stuff, actually this is a lot of movie stuff for someone who hasn't been to the movies since last December (when i saw Spongebob Squarepants...boy, that movie rules!!), the hour is coming, many of us feared it's arrival but there's no turning back anymore, it looms upon us: Last Days, the movie based on Kurt Cobain, is finally coming out, judging from what i've seen, it doesn't look like much fun, yeah, it seems they conveniently left out Kurt's sense of humor, in fact, it seems they conveniently left out the band and the music; after all, it's an "adaptation"...I bet Oliver Stone is either proud or kicking himself for not doing the movie first. It seems that the only cool thing in the movie is that Kim Gordon appears in it (no pun intended), Asia Argento is cool and all but every once in a while she does bad stuff (XXX, anyone?)...Oh well, watch the trailer and see for yourselves.

In even more movie news, Jack Black has a lot of movies coming up, first up is King Kong, directed by Peter "Geek Trilogy" Jackson, which doesn't really blow my skirt up, he's also working on a new film co-written by Mike White and Jared Hess (who wrote and directed Napoleon Dynamite) about a mexican priest who's a wrestler by night and, get this, he's filming it in Mexico, sweet! maybe i'll get to hang with Jack then (i wish...). He's also going to start working on the Tenacious D movie called Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny, the movie is about a magical guitar pick that will help them become, you know, the greatest band in the world; they're hoping to get Meat Loaf to play Jack's dad (because the movie is also about the history of the D) and they're also doing the soundtrack which will double as the next D album. Sick news in here!!
